     Dearest mapsters,

     Someone just sent me  a clipping, perhaps from the Wall Street
     Journal? about two exhibits which probably include maps, and even if
     not, would probably inform any of us anyway!

     Mint Museum of Art, Charlotte, NC
     Unseen Treasures: Imperial Russian and the New World

     This exhibition tells the story of Russian exploration and
     colonization in North America...The Russian State Historical Museum
     and the State Archive of the Russian Federation have lent more than
     300 items for this exhibition...


     I hope to see this Thanksgiving weekend, by delaying my layover in
     Charlotte, so I am glad for my colleague here having sent this to me.

     Sunday 12-5, Closed Mondays, Tues-Fri 10-5 [I think, check their
     website for hours and ticket prices. Looks like one might have to

     During this period  Russian sentmore thant 225 expeditions to the
     northern region, 40 of them went on to circumnavigating the
     globe...well, who knew? Wasn't in my history books.
