The library community has been trying to rally other disciples to seek alternative forums of scholarly communication in an attempt to relieve libraries and scholars of the publishing practices and prices of commercial entities such as Halworth. I think we (myself included) should set a better example. I hope people will consider this before volunteering to edit, review or write for the Halworth journal. Even with the demise of two of our journals, Meridian and SLA Bulletin, I still feel we have enough publishing alternatives in the map & geography librarian field. --Scott -- Begin Forwarded Message --- > Date: Fri, 29 Sep 2000 14:49:23 -0400 > From: ahudson <[log in to unmask]> > Subject: new map & geog mag > Sender: ahudson <[log in to unmask]> > > > > > Dear mapsters, > > In the Haworth Press catalog just received there is a little note: > > "Forthcoming journal -- "Journal of Map & Geography Information/tm" > Availability to be announced. > > This may be the answer to struggling and/or non-existent "association" > map library journals?
