RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE: staffing the reference desk; providing instruction and assistance to library users, including instruction on electronic resources; database searching; reference collection development activities; serving as a liaison to academic departments; participating on library and campus committees; engaging in professional, scholarly, and service activities; participating in general operations of the reference section; and special projects as assigned. Must demonstrate potential for professional growth and development. Some evening and weekend hours required. The Colorado School of Mines is a doctoral-granting institution devoted to engineering and applied science, particularly in the areas of energy, mineral, and materials science and engineering. The Arthur Lakes Library is a specialized technical library that supports the educational and research goals of the Colorado School of Mines and serves as a regional center for information in engineering and science. The Library staff consists of 9.5 FTE library faculty and 11 support staff. A strong public service orientation, adaptability to a rapidly changing information environment, and good communication skills are of extreme importance.
