If you are interested in getting the Census 2000 boundary or geography files then the ESRI Censuswatch page is an excellent site because data is already in a shapefile...you can use it easily use with ArcView and also you can convert it into MapInfo. MapInfo free provides conversion utility from a shapefile to MIF file. For actual census data...check the GeoLytics site(http://www.censuscd.com/census2000.htm), they are trying to make the Census 2000 data accessible through their software as they are released, with some annual subscription fee. The GeoLytics programs are one of the easiest and cheapest programs for extracting census data.
