Hewlett Packard DesignJet printers seem to have a near monopoly in this area. I know that some libraries have purchased the DesignJet HP 1055CM, which has been recommended by the GPO. That is their top of the line model, and it costs about $9500. HP makes a lot of other models, including the HP 430, which also prints in color on paper 36" wide, and costs around $2500. It is not obvious to me from reading the specifications why the 1055CM is worth $7000 more. Any thoughts on this subject? Has anybody had positive experiences with wide-format printers from other manufacturers? David Allen Map Librarian SUNY Stony Brook --- End Forwarded Message ---
