The Federal Documents Regional Depository Librarian is a 12-month, tenure-leading position within the Library Faculty, and reports to the Chair of General Services Department. RESPONSIBILITIES: The Documents Librarian manages the collections of United States, United Nations, Nebraska, and Organization of American States documents in multiple formats (electronic, print, microform, maps, etc.), and administers the Regional Depository Program for Nebraska. Takes a leadership role statewide. Provides documents reference to students, faculty, and the public. Provides assistance to Federal selective depository libraries in Nebraska. Develops and promotes GIS activities for the University Libraries. Provides documents instruction and promotion of documents collections to the University community, through team teaching and other collaborative venues. Responsible for the Documents Cybrary <http://www.unl.edu/libr/govdocs/docs1.htm> of selected web sites for current Federal, State, and UN publications. Provides general reference on the Reference Desk. Works with liaison librarians on collection development activities. Supervises 3.0 support staff in receiving and processing of Federal documents. QUALIFICATIONS: Required: MLS from an ALA-accredited program; knowledge of Federal government documents in all formats; reference experience using print and electronic government resources. Experience with government documents or related experience/coursework. Evidence of excellent analytical, organizational, communication, and time-management skills. Preferred: Supervisory experience. Knowledge of or interest in GIS. Experience with web development. Instructional background helpful. Professional or paraprofessional library experience. SALARY: $34,500 minimum.
