Contact information can be found at end of position announcement. -------------------------------------------------- GIS/Map Librarian Columbia University Libraries is seeking a Librarian to select, organize, and maintain a collection of 180,000 print maps and to work with a team of librarians and technologists to develop and deliver geographic information support to students and faculty. Reporting to the Director of the Social Sciences Division, the GIS/Map Librarian will participate in faculty outreach, consultations, user instruction, reference (both virtual and desk), and serve as a primary contact for faculty and students needing cartographic and geospatial resources. Collection development responsibilities include the selection of books, journals, electronic resources, and software to support Columbia's teaching and research in geography and related disciplines. The position will work closely with colleagues in the Electronic Data Center to design joint instruction and consultation support for GIS. Columbia has an ESRI site license, and the current map collections include U. S. depository maps, Geological Sciences Series, a growing collection of international maps, and New York City and State maps. Requirements are: Knowledge of the selection, organization and utilization of geographic and cartographic materials; ability to engage students and faculty in learning about geographic resources, and a strong interest in implementing and using GIS technology. An accredited MLS is required. Experience using GIS software is a strong plus. The salary ranges for this PC I position are: Librarian I: $42,200 - $52,750; Librarian II: $44,200 - $59,670; Librarian III: $47,200 - $70,800.
