The pagination and insets from our 1919 edition match your description while the pagination and insets for the other years consulted (1916, 1917, 1918 and 1920) do not match. I have a Rand McNally new commercial atlas map of Missouri from the Commercial Atlas of America - a gift from the publisher in 1920 to the AGS. It's an advertising map "circular" without a date. The pagination is 226 and 227. Inset of St. Louis and the bootheel in the upper right 1/2 corner with railroads listed in red in the lower left 1/2 corner. Scale 1 in. = 16 miles. On the verso is the "advertisement" circular type stuff, talking about how the commercial atlas is updated each year, why it's such a great thing to purchase, etc. One example from the verso indicates population estimated for 1916. So, I'm thinking this map's date is between 1916 and 1920. Does anyone have a copy of the Commercial Atlas for any of these years? Would you mind checking the pagination and letting me know which years match the Missouri map for pages 226 and 227? We only have the 1911 and 1946 and pagination does not match. There's a chance that the pagination is contrived for the purpose of advertising the atlas, in which case I'll make my best guess. Thanks! -angie- -- ************************************************** Angie Cope, Cartographic Materials Catalog Librarian American Geographical Society Library UW Milwaukee Libraries 2311 E.
