The Director administers the public service departments within the Main Library, administers 10 branch libraries, and works collaboratively with other library directors, campus administrators, faculty, and staff in the planning, development, and implementation of innovative, user-centered library services that support the University’s academic enterprise. The incumbent is also actively involved with the senior management team in planning, resource allocation, the establishment of library-wide policies and practices, and other administrative responsibilities of the University Libraries. The following departments are part of Research and Instructional Services and report to this position: Access Services, Distance Education, Reference and Library Instruction, along with the Art, Business, Music, Psychology, Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Geoscience, Engineering, Mathematics, and Physics branch libraries. Required Qualifications: · a graduate degree from an ALA accredited library program; · at least 10 years of experience in library public services with a documented record of successful leadership, management, communication and organizational development in a complex and rapidly changing environment; · ability to articulate a vision for research library services and demonstrated ability to implement effective, innovative user-centered services in a dynamic environment; · ability to function in and foster a collaborative working environment; · understanding of the academic teaching and research needs of a Research I university; · the ability to take a broad, library-wide perspective; · excellent written and oral communication skills; · history of professional involvement at a national level and/or scholarship. Salary and appointment: Rank is at the Associate Director level. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience; minimum salary of $90,000.
