I read a brief notice from the USGS Library about the changes in existing map and book publications (which of course now I can't find - probably in my to-do stack). Many of the folded-map series are going out of existence, and I accordingly changed the catalog records in my library's online catalog. One that I haven't changed yet is the record for the SI series; as I remember, the numbering continues as if it's still the I series, but the series name changes. If some kind soul from USGS doesn't write in about this, you might want to send an email to the USGS Library and ask for information about the various series' changes. http://igsrglib03.er.usgs.gov/ext_request.shtml Mary Mary Lynette Larsgaard Map and Imagery Laboratory Davidson Library University of California Santa Barbara CA 93106-9010 USA voice telephone: 805/893-4049 fax: 805/893-8799 email: [log in to unmask] x message 2 xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Angela, see - Changes in USGS Publication Series at http://www.lib.purdue.edu/lists/geonet/msg01497.html Gwen Curtis ([log in to unmask]) Pirtle Geological Sciences Library and Map Collection 410 King Library Addition University of Kentucky Libraries Lexington, KY 40506-0039 (859) 257-1853 x message 3 xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx I remember an annnouncement a while back that several types map --I, HA, MF, WRI--were being combined into Scientific Investigations Maps, continuing the I numbering.
