CONGRATULATIONS!!! I've been wondering.... and now I know who the "mystery
moderator" is! Its a big responsibility and alot of people count on this
listserv but I know you will do well in your new moderator role. Look forward
to working with you by posting from time to time, and to meeting you at the
conference in May!

As we've all been reading, the kind Johnnie Sutherland has retired from
his position at the University of Georgia. Johnnie started Maps-L in
1991 and has been the moderator that entire time. For 14 years, Johnnie
screened emails, distributed them to the list and kept Maps-L relevant
to the needs and interests of the map community.
It is with great pleasure that I announce my new role as moderator of
Maps-L. I have been a member of Maps-L for 2 1/2 years, and I've
benefited greatly from it during that time. I will keep the list running
exactly as it has for these many years - you need do nothing. For now,
the list will continue to run through Georgia's listproc software, the
archives will remain the same and all other features will be unchanged.
