The 1880 Graves County maps are organized by Township and Range on this CD, as are a number of city, town and village plan maps from this period. Village and town maps of Graves county in this atlas: Boydsville, Dukedom, Fancy Farm P.O., Farmington, Hickory Grove, Lynnville, Mayfield, Pryorsburg, Symsonia, Water Valley and Wingo Station. Details on aged early maps are often difficult to read and these are no exception; however, by virtue of the Adobe PDF formatting, these documents may be inspected at high levels of magnification with far less digital distortion; something that simply cannot be accomplished with paper reproductions and photocopies. Each map includes many 19th century features such as: * toll roads, railroads and canals * post offices and government sites * schoolhouses, churches and cemeteries * rivers, streams and ferries * race tracks, fair grounds and picnic groves * industrial sites, furnaces and mills * early property ownership, homesteads and farms -and much more The abridged Atlas of Graves County, Kentucky may be an invaluable aid to Genealogists, Historians and researchers in search of 19th century Graves County places and place names. These early maps often contain many places that no longer exist or that have been obscured over time; the location of property owners, businesses, churches and cemeteries may assist genealogical researchers interested in Kentucky history. The Adobe Acrobat Reader for MS Windows is needed to view, zoom, pan and print from the PDF map images contained in this atlas; and is included free on each CD. No other software is necessary. The map data has been created and configured using the latest version of the Adobe Acrobat Reader (6.0) for MS Windows (98, 98SE, XP, NT and 2000). The maps may be viewed in earlier versions of the software as well; however, optimum use of the data can be expected using the Adobe Reader 6.0 that is included on this CD.
