The one to two assistantships will be focused on Network GIS (including GridGIS, InternetGIS, AgentGIS, and GeoScience Interoperability) and Image Processing (including pattern recognition and image/texture mining). Students with a master's degree in related fields, such as GIS, computer science, information system, and remote sensing, are encouraged to apply for this coming spring (January) semester admission. Distinguished students with undergraduate degrees in related areas are also encouraged to apply. Relevant strengths in the ESGS Program/Department include distributed/web GIS, grid computing for geospatial applications, and geoinformation interoperability, geocomputation, spatial analysis/statistics. Online application can be accessed through http://www.scs.gmu.edu/Academics_new.html. <http://www.scs.gmu.edu/Academics_new.html.> For further information, please contact Phil Yang at [log in to unmask] or 703-993-4742.
