Below the title is the name J. Cook followed by the abbreviation S.H.C. The map was printed in St. Louis. I suspect that Cook was the surveyor, but knowing what S.H.C. means would help me to determine his part in the production of the map. I've tried a number of online sources for abbreviations, but have had no luck. Would any of you know what S.H.C. stands for or know of a source that I could try? ********************************** Gwen Curtis Geology Library and Map Collection University of Kentucky Libraries 410C King Library Addition Lexington, KY 40506-0039 Phone: (859) 257-1853 Fax: (859) 323-3225 Email: [log in to unmask]
