Scale 1:2,500 5m contours. shows all buildings, roads, cemeteries, tree-covered areas, archaeological sites, churches, mosques, schools, archways, ruins etc. An update of the original edition of 1936 and reprinted in a couple of revised editions since then. Index of major sites of interest and streets. The map costs 20NIS which is about US$4.50. Survey's code 1264 A Hebrew edition is also available but this is a few years older. The two editions are not published simultaneously. Note that the Survey of Israel's maps are generally NOT available outside its offices, so this map is NOT available at any shops or even the govt tourist office in the Old City. Other maps of interest include: - A 1996 colour reprint of "the Madaba map" (an ancient mosaic map of Palestine from a ruined building in Jordan), reproduced by the Survey and the Israeli Exploration Society from Palmer and Guthe's Reproduction of 1906.
