The earthquakes and volcanoes that mark plate boundaries are clearly shown on this map, as are craters made by impacts of extraterrestrial objects that punctuate Earth's history, causing some catastrophic ecological change. The map is designed to show the most prominent features when viewed from a distance, and more detailed features upon closer inspection. The back of the map zooms in further, highlighting examples of fundamental features, while providing text, time-lines, references and other resources to enhance understanding of this dynamic planet. Both front and back of the map illustrate the enormous recent growth in our knowledge of planet Earth. The map is cast upon a Mercator Projection with a scale of 1: 30,000,000 at the equator (one inch equal 473 miles [762 kilometers]). The map measures 58 inches by 43.5 inches. Item number *206335* Price is $ 14.00 plus a $5.00 handling fee per order. The sea floor is portrayed as a shaded relief surface generated from the multibeam data color-coded for depth from light blues for the shallowest values to purples for the deepest. The land regions are portrayed by USGS digital orthophotographs (DOQs) overlaid on USGS digital elevation models (DEMs). The water depths have 4x vertical exaggeration while the land areas have a 2x vertical exaggeration. Item number *206228* Map measures 33 inches by 32 inches. Price is $ 7.00 plus a $5.00 handling fee per order.
