-------- Original Message -------- Subject: American Libraries looks at retirement Date: Wed, 23 Aug 2006 16:09:00 -0500 From: Gordon Flagg <[log in to unmask]> American Libraries is planning a special section on retirement for our November issue, and were looking for insights about retirement from librarians who have recently retired, who have been enjoying retirement for many years, or who are just contemplating the prospect. Were soliciting 150-word entries presenting librarians thoughts on such aspects of retirement as things they wish theyd known before retiring; what surprised them most about retirement; what they miss most about the workplace; how to continue to play a role in the profession; and anything else that might be of value to others looking toward retirement. Were particularly interested in hearing observations that pertain exclusively to the library profession. Please reply to [log in to unmask], and feel free to forward this message to anyone you know who might want to respond. I probably wont be replying to or otherwise confirming receipt of responses until we start actively working on the issue in mid-September. And thanks in advance for your help.
