Scott Brandt, Assistant Dean for Research, Purdue University Libraries. Program Description: Issues and trends in digital repositories of non-textual information: support for research and teaching. Scientific research produces vast amounts of data. Historically, libraries have preserved the distillation of that research (the scientific paper), but only infrequently the data upon which that paper was based. An increasingly prominent theme in todays research community is that preservation of the data is perhaps at least as important as preservation of the output. Our program will focus on the current issues and trends in creating, retaining, and providing access to non-textual information. The STS Research Committee will select posters for the Washington, D.C. session through a blind review process on the basis of timeliness, thoughtfulness, and relevance to sci/tech librarianship. *DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION:* January 19, 2007. A brief description of the poster (250 words or less) should be submitted via e-mail to Sarah Jeong, Co-Chair of the STS Research Committee, [log in to unmask] Be sure to include your name, institution, phone, fax, e-mail address, and poster title.
