I like it! Harry Beck's original schematic map for the London Underground (early 1930s) set the trend for every subsequent attempt to chart a transportation matrix in the world. From Oslo to Calcutta, the graphics are almost universal today. Even depictions of the Paris Metro routes have been pretty much 'Beck-ized'. I liken this process in schematic maps to Cubism in painting: a distillation of essentials; reality has been altered and stylized, but it all makes sense. The triumph of Modernism! Brian P.
