It hasn't been updated for a while, but it was roughly compatible with the new Digital Registry guide and can still be seen at: http://www.fcla.edu/csul/tspc/cager/guidelines/CAGERGuidelines-Pt1MAPFL- FLAP.html Thanks, Jimmie Jimmie Lundgren Science & Social Science Cataloging Unit Cataloging and Metadata Dept. That would mean, in particular, entering information about digitization into the Registry of Digital Masters by altering our OCLC and local records. (Guidelines for these can be found at http://www.diglib.org/collections/reg/DigRegGuide200705.htm We've produced one map record aong these lines; see OCLC 51600377.) The models given in these guidelines were naturally created for books and serials. We've been particularly concerned about what to put in the 538 field, in which one is supposed to refer to the set of standards followed. I have two (perhaps rather naive) questions: [1] Can anyone refer me to a set of standards that apply particularly to map digitization? [2] Are there other libraries doing map digitization work who are attempting to create records that conform to the Registry of Digital Masters guidelines? I could be wrong, but it looks as though most of the libraries reporting their digitization work are doing it in some other way, and most of the OCLC records I see for digitized maps include 856s and often 007s and 530s--but not the several fields (042, 506, 533, 538, 583) required by the new guidelines. It would be nice to have a model! I'd be grateful for your thoughts. Chris Winters University of Chicago Library
