-------- Original Message -------- Subject: Large format scanning services Date: Fri, 18 Jan 2008 16:17:23 -0500 From: Hallie Pritchett <[log in to unmask]> To: <[log in to unmask]> I have a question about large format scanning services. We have a large format scanner & printer and charge a size-based fee to scan & print maps for patrons. However, we've been getting a number of requests to scan maps to CDs or USB drives instead of printing. Since making our large format scanner self-service is not an option, a staff member has to do all of the scanning. It takes the same amount of staff time to scan a map regardless of its final format (paper or digital) but patrons only pay if they want a paper copy. How do others handle large format scanning requests - do you charge for scanning regardless of final format or only to scan & print? If you or your staff do the scanning do you set a limit on the number of items you'll scan for a patron at one time? Any & all advice is appreciated!
