-------- Original Message -------- Subject: Newest issue of Journal of Map & Geography Libraries Date: Wed, 02 Jan 2008 14:05:09 -0500 From: Paige Andrew <[log in to unmask]> To: [log in to unmask] All, I am /very/ excited to announce that vol. 4, no. 1, (2007) is now published! I just received a copy of the first of two double issues that are based on the theme of GIS within the United States Department of Energy. Many thanks go to the guest editors, Lisa Wishard and Denise Bleakley at Sandia National Laboratories for overseeing a huge project that delivers many, many timely articles on GIS standards and uses. Besides three opening articles related to the history and structure (and more!) of Geospatial Science within the DOE, there are eleven other articles, many illustrated, specific to GIS applications, standards and research outcomes such as "Metrics of Success for Enterprise Geographic Information Systems (EGIS)", "Evaluation of Open Geospatial Consortium Standards for Use in the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory GIS", and "Savannah River National Laboratory Emergency Response Capability for Atmospheric Contaminant Releases". For a complete table of contents, with abstracts, for this issue go to: http://www.haworthpress.com/store/product.asp?sid=K6KVC3V8RH4S9GSQT59V2UNUCBSH6PS2&sku=J230&AuthType=2 <http://www.haworthpress.com/store/product.asp?sid=K6KVC3V8RH4S9GSQT59V2UNUCBSH6PS2&sku=J230&AuthType=2> and click on the "Complete Contents for Current & Past Volumes" on the right-side column. The second piece of this theme issue is forthcoming in May 2008. As always, Mary Larsgaard and I are always seeking articles for the journal, so if you have ideas or even something partly completed please send an email to us ([log in to unmask] and [log in to unmask]). Thanks! Paige
