Dear Friends, It appears Gilbert Bland is stealing maps again. There is someone based in Maryland who is moving covertly about the east coast selling relatively low end maps from government publications via email under the name scframers. A dealer in Colorado got suspicious and did some background checking and has concluded that it is almost certainly Gil Bland. He is masked behind a series of aliases, wrong phone numbers and similar barriers to the discovery of his identity, but the case is fairly compelling: 1. Same type of material--primarly low priced government report type material, but periodically better material. 2. Working the east coast, but based in Maryland 3. Also pursuing Scripophily (hope I spelled that right!). 4. Mail order type operation. 5. At least one deep search caused an even more direct connection to Bland's prior business name. Not sure what the best approach is to tracking this down, but he's using the mail, shipping interstate, so its a Federal offense. -- Barry Lawrence Ruderman Antique Maps Inc. 1298 Prospect, Suite 2C La Jolla, CA 92037 (858) 551-8500 (858) 551-8593 (fax) [log in to unmask] www.raremaps.com
