It would be great to see a map or geographic/geological document nominated. Perhaps someone has something in mind?? Forwarded form govdoc-l -------- Original Message -------- Subject: Please nominate a notable document! Please help the ALA Government Documents Roundtable (GODORT) by nominating outstanding government publications to be featured in the annual notable documents column of *Library Journal*. This is a wonderful way of educating and informing the broader library community about the importance of government information. Each year the panel selects about 30 notable documents from the list of nominations. Publications can be from any level of government: federal, international, state and local, and foreign, and can be in any format: print, digital, books, maps, CDs, or material published for a government agency by a commercial publisher. The form takes only a few minutes to fill out and can be found here: http://www.ala.org/ala/godort/godortcommittees/godortpublications/notdocform.htm Information about the history of the program can be found here: http://www.ala.org/ala/godort/godortcommittees/godortpublications/notdoc.htm This is a very effective way of publicizing the importance of government information and to honor the agencies and staff who publish important documents. The list reaches a very wide audience and is particularly useful as a selection tool for all types of libraries. If you see a government document that merits nationwide attention - nominate it! These documents are subsequently purchased by (and read in) libraries all over the country. Please contact the notable documents panel chair, Jim Church, if you have any questions.
