-------- Original Message -------- Subject: Anyone have this JOG of Peru? Date: Thu, 13 Nov 2008 16:25:48 -0700 From: Ilene Raynes <[log in to unmask]> Organization: University of Colorado To: 'Maps, Air Photo & Geospatial Systems Forum' <[log in to unmask]> Hi all- We have a patron who is hoping to locate several small villages in Peru for a telecomm project. He was given the lat/long of these villages by a contact in Peru, but when he goes to map them (on Google Earth), they land in the middle of a river. We helped him find slightly different coordinates (in GEONET) for three of the five villages and that should help him a bit. For the two places we could not find reference to in GEONET, we did manage to figure out what 1:250K map they’d be on (if the map even exists and is detailed enough to show them). It would be SA 18-16. First question - does anyone have this map that they’d be willing to look at for us and/or ILL to us? Second question – can anyone tell me if this map was even made? Finally, if folks have other suggestions on where to look to possibly find these villages, that would be great. Name and his inaccurate lat/long are below: They are in the Loreto administrative district of Peru. 3 degrees, 24 minutes, 50.62 seconds 72 degrees, 44 minutes, 19.17 seconds (Village is apparently called Tres de Mayo) 3 degrees, 24 minutes, 52 seconds 72 degrees, 41 minutes, 3 seconds (Village is apparently called Canada) Thanks!
