*Mapgiving* Mapgiving is a new organization whose mission is to advance geographic awareness through maps, for non-profit clients and the people they serve. Mapgiving helps to identify the cartographic needs of non-profit groups, and then coordinates with the cartographers that have pledged/donated their time and talent to create useful, beautiful maps. This past October, the day before the NACIS annual meeting, 11 cartographers assembled and offered their professional services to the first Mapgiving client, the Hank Aaron State Trail, of Milwaukee, WI. This kick-off event was a huge success. After 12 intense hours of design and production, two maps were produced, one designed for print and the other for interactive display on the web. Mapgiving would like to thank NACIS for it's generous support of the kick-off event. Several new collaborative projects are in the process of being finalized now.
