[Tony] Burgess. http://www.oldkentmaps.co.uk/ This is a book-length cartobibliography, of the most thorough type, listing every published map and their sometimes numerous variants; with clear explanations to aid understanding of the bibliography and the way that the maps relate to Kent's history. As far as I am aware this is the first county bibliography of this scale to be placed on the web, for all to access freely. It is accompanied by a large collection of images, though those are for recognition rather than study purposes. A succession of post-War bibliographies of different English counties has set new cartobibliographical standards, with each building on the work of predecessors (since the majority of such maps appeared in county atlases, which constitute a shared history). Tony Burgess is to be thanked and congratulated for his noteworthy contribution to the genre. Tony Campbell [log in to unmask]
