Hi Everyone, I'd like to get opinions on use of the 752 field in the catalog record. How many people are using this, what do you feel are the advantages? Finally ... do you think it will someday replace LCSH? You can read more about it here: http://www.oclc.org/bibformats/en/7xx/752.shtm With the example below, what does the tgn stand for? I assume the 'authorities' for these entries are gazetteers and the like - can anyone confirm that? I was looking around on the web site relating to source of code and I wasn't really getting it ... Here is the example: The name of a smaller unit within a populated place, e.g. neighborhoods, parks, or streets. City subsection: 752 United States ‡b California ‡c Los Angeles (County) ‡d Los Angeles ‡f Little Tokyo. ‡2 tgn Thanks in advance. -Angie Angie Cope, Senior Academic Librarian American Geographical Society Library UW Milwaukee Libraries 2311 E.
