The presentations will begin at 12 noon, tomorrow, November 18th and be held in the Geography and Map Division Reading Room, basement of the James Madison Building. The hour long program will feature three presentations highlighting current projects and research by Library of Congress Staff: 1. Paul Shirley, GIS Analyst for the Congressional Research Service and Nicholas Jackson, Cartographer for the Congressional Cartography Program will speak about their current projects and on "GIS and Analysis for Public Policy" . 2. Jackie Nolan, Cartographer for the Congressional Cartography Program will talk about "Meta-data Standards for GIS" 3. John Hessler, Senior Cartographic Librarian, Geography and Map Division, will speak on his current research and mapping of glacial melting in the Alps and the integration of historical and archival material with modern surveys in GIS.
