So in our remaining catalog <drawers> (gasp from readers, I am sure), we have over 12 inches of cards for OSS maps. If no one library is planning on scanning it all, this would be a good project to coordinate, which sounds like what the questioners had in mind. I.e., in order to avoid duplicated effort, UI would pledge to scan one country, another institution another country.
