Mr. <[log in to unmask]> To: Maps, Air Photo, GIS Forum - Map Librarianship <[log in to unmask]> I don't know if I am searching for this in the wrong way. My library has had a set of the Soil Map of Europe = Carte des sols de l'Europe = Mapa de suelos de Europa, 1963, by the Food and Agriculture Organization, printed by Institute Géographique Militaire de Belgique. It has lain uncataloged in the collection since it was new. I want to catalog it. I have found some adequate records in OCLC, none of which is really great. The odd thing is that each has only 1 or a couple of holding institutions. This doesn't seem right to me for such a set. I was expecting more holdings, and a major national library (or more than one) having created the definitive record for it. This is why I wonder if I'm not looking for this correctly. Is it possible that there once were more holding institutions but holdings have been deleted? This too does not seem right. Any insights into this conundrum are welcome.
