Usually, for mapping grade equipment, the vendor will agree to do a demo of the equipment and post processing software to see if this is something that would work for you. I would definitely perform some tests on the equipment in an area similar to where you will be recording points. If there is any tree cover, buildings, etc. Best case scenario would be to test the equipment in your botanical garden. Here are a few links I found that may help you: http://mobilitytoday.com/articles/iPAQ_DeLorme_BlueTooth_GPS.html http://forum.delorme.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=13572&sid=f4b92a9272c55246b0b6347eeb0370fc Hope this helps! -Greg Gregory H. I am involved in a GIS project with my local botanical garden, which requires mapping individual plants with sub-meter accuracy. Most systems that do this seem to cost upwards of $10,000, which is beyond our reach. I stumbled across some information about a DeLorme product called Blue Logger GPS, which claims to do this for about $1000. Has anybody had success using this system, or have other suggestions for low-cost, high-accuracy GPS? David Allen (retired from Stony Brook University, now volunteering for San Diego Botanic Garden)
