Commercial cartography has always had to rely on second hand information and Government cartography is inherently biased in border disputes. This is not a new issue. It simply highlights the fact that users are not taught that a map is a subjective snapshot of an area and doesn't represent an objective truth. Google maps may have been in error, but the user should not have relied on them. This is definitely an argument for teaching cartographic literacy in our education systems.
