(N.O.V. 130790) The Department of Geography at Texas A&M University invites applications for a GIST laboratory manager (August 2013) to facilitate GIST instruction, student and faculty research, and applied projects and outreach activities. Qualified candidates will have a Masters degree in Geography, Computer Science, Earth Science, or a related discipline, expertise in remote sensing and geographic information systems (GIS), computer programing, database administration, and be able to effectively communicate and manage laboratory personnel, equipment, and servers. The department is involved in multidisciplinary research and projects in, remote sensing and GIS, spatial database development, health and urban systems, biogeography, climate change, geomorphology, hydrology and cryosphere applications. We seek individuals who are capable of: 1) overseeing day-to-day operations; 2) addressing data storage, management and access issues; 3) facilitating student and faculty projects; 4) analyzing geospatial data using remote sensing and GIS software; 5) developing software to facilitate technology transfer; and 6) can assist in technical and applied problem solving as well as teaching short courses.
