It may add some to our knowledge of these two companies that no longer publish maps. MWM Maps --- Two Burney brothers, Whaley and Johnny, operated a piano store in Aurora, Missouri when they conceived of the idea that service stations would buy road maps to give to their customers. They gave up the piano store and began an office in a bank hotel building in town. They farmed out actual printing. In the beginning the company was Midwest Map Company, but as the nature of the business changed it became MWM Color Press. MWM occupied a two story building in the northwest corner of the square. Some early employees were: Ms. Opal Conrad and Mrs. Margaret Ingram Morris. (Summarized from a copy of a magazine article mailed to me by the Aurora Chamber of Commerce in July 1981) (Sorry no dates or other good data appear in the article).
