Another way to get to your fantastic article (I read various drafts through the process and learned alot myself, though much is beyond my grasp since I don't work directly in that realm!) is to go directly to the Journal of Map & Geography's homepage where the online version of the latest issue is now available: http://www.tandfonline.com/toc/wmgl20/current#.UkOJ6H-H9GQ And there are 7 other articles + a column in this issue that will benefit many readers of this list. (yes, I'm biased, just a tad...) Studies could have been much more scientific, but the conclusions were helpful none-the-less. We looked at different imaging technologies and included snapshots of production costs. Stanford also shares the Potrace-based vectorization approach that was another outcome of the study. Here's their blog post with a link to the article: http://library.stanford.edu/blogs/digital-library-blog/2013/09/scanning-maps-and-learning-defects Cheers, Matt Matt Pearson 194 Randall St, San Francisco, CA 94131 Independent Photographer / Digitization & Services Coordinator, California Digital Library Phone: 617-271-4440 • Fax: 617-718-9855 http://www.matpearson.com/ Matt Pearson Photographer / Consultant 15 Rose St.; Somerville, Ma 02143 Phone: 617-271-4440 • Fax: 617-718-9855 www.matpearson.com
