New release of British Library maps online via BL� Georeferencer� http://maps.bl.uk

Last week, nearly 2,800 maps� were posted online and� are� available� for georeferencing. Two collections were included:

British + Irish towns: fire insurance plans - ~2500 maps

The� Chas E Goad� Ltd fire insurance plans of British and� Irish towns and cities� provide unique information not found elsewhere about land use, buildings� and the urban landscape in the late 19c-e 20thc.� These are invaluable for geneaologists and local historians.

Military maps: World War I and US Civil War - ~225 maps
