Ah, google…. My parents retired to Sun City some years ago (which accounts for that in the link) and my brother and his family live in Phoenix. I immediately thought of the Phoenix area when I saw the photo and hoped that the lakes retained this same pattern. It was a matter of looking for that pattern. It was also fun to do on a Friday.

Impressive work!

Â

I’m interested in whether you are familiar with the location or if you figured it out from the image itself? Based on the palm trees, xeriscaping, and pools at the larger homes I was thinking Phoenix or LV to start the search.

Â

I don’t know if is an effect of the shortening service you used, but the link you provided is centered on Sun City to the NW of Pheonix. Here is a close-up of the park: http://bit.ly/1fsGxzg (full link below just in case).

Hi,

The University of Chicago Map Collection received a major gift a year ago from Nokia
Solutions and Networks of Arlington Heights, Illinois. (You can read all about this at
http://www.lib.uchicago.edu/e/collections/maps/news.html#nokia ).

Only one component of this gift remains unprocessed, an air photo that we cannot
identify. The folks at Nokia think this may be a photo of a Nokia building somewhere
in the world but weren't sure. Can anyone help? You can access the photo through
this "ticket":

Be warned that I don't know which way is north.

Even good guesses would be welcome.

Many thanks.
