Brendan (et al.):

Have you not yet tried the RGS-IBG’s OPAC – indeed, the ‘new look’ version? Try the press-mark Romania G.38 (or unique Control No.: 528780): the metadata offers one a clickable link to the (‘zoomifiable’) original Romanian index map, considerably ‘cleaned up’ from our original marked-off copy. This 1:100K series (Bucharest : Mil. Geogr. Inst., 1906-13) has the alphanumeric sheet-numbering system such as you cite as an example. If this is not the 1:100K series you seek try the next chronological series from 1922 onwards (the German WW2 Mil Geo series, as one can see, is also on the Society’s OPAC).

PS: Sorry, but not yet solved your Bulgaria problem of a few months back.

Subject: Index for WW1-era Romania 100k series?

I am seeking an index for 1:100,000 romanian mapping of Romania, c.1912 through WW1.

The series has no particular title, but sheet numbering seems to be of the format "Seria IV, Coloana B" (row 4, column 2?) There are no coords on the map, but each sheet is square and covers c.40x40 km

Any help appreciated!
