And now for something completely different! Tom Overton, Past President of RMMS, will give us a whimsical look at pirate maps. So be sure to be here for some entertainment as well as a lighthearted map presentation. Did you know that the famous English explorers, Francis Drake and William Dampier, were both pirates? In the 17th century one could be both. Tom will bring some period maps to illustrate where the pirates were operating, as well as some authentic pirate artifacts for people to look at.

Tom Overton is the Founder of the Overton Law Firm and a serious map enthusiast. His personal collection ranges from the 17th century maps of the English cartographer John Speed, to historical maps of Colorado, to antique maps of Denver.

The presentation will take place at Denver Public Library in the Gates Room, Fifth Floor, at 5:30 PM. The event is free and open to the public.
