Hi,

One of our USGS geographer says that " the star indicates the map was printed by a contractor, not the US government. "

Thank you,

Carlos,

I have seen this and count it as a different edition than a map without a star.

I'm processing a 1:24,000 topographic map from Icehouse Canyon, Colorado, 1978 edition published in 1978.

The weird thing is that it has a star next to the year published. I don't think I've ever seen this before on a topo. map (congressional hearings, yeah). Is there a special significance?
