It is perhaps worth adding that the British Geological Survey has issued a roughly half lineal scale facsimile of William Smith's map, bender-folded, for £12:95: ISBN 978-0-7518-3788-9. (I bought my copy from BGS at Keyworth, so don't have any web link.) There are worse desinations for £12:95!

This geological map, judged to be "radical" in its day, may be seen at the Natural History Museum in a free exhibition which runs until the end of October.
