When I was working at LC in the 1960s, I found a bunch of these panoramic views.

My personal most favorite was my hometown because, though it was from the latter part of the 1800s, it had my granmother's house on it which had been built by a New England sea captain (Captain Fowler) who sailed from Port Townsend (WA) loaded with logs to build houses in New England and sailed back from New England with bricks as ballast.  One shipload of those ballast bricks was laid to form the sidewalk around the Post Office.

Then, when my folks started building their house before they got married in 1938, my Dad made a deal with a friend who had a truck.  After my Dad bought the bricks because they were declared surplus.  When the WPA was charged with building a new concrete sidewalk, he made the deal with his buddy who carted all the bricks in his truck from where they lay around the Post Office to the lot where my Dad used them to build our house.

I still think that's pretty kewl!!!  Color me pleased as punch for your bringing back a heartful of memories!
