Hi Michael, At Duke we scanned around 700-800 of them several years ago after finding that no one else had done a comprehensive project, but then the images got put in "deep freeze" for lack of any staff to design an interface to search them, or to create adequate links to the images. I find it difficult (with very limited time) to work out communication issues between me and the other silos such as tech services and the digital scanning unit, where the images are stored (and these other units have many other higher priorities that they've been given). Basically, I haven't found the time to be the project "champion," so I primarily fault myself. They have been scanned as high-res TIFFs, although lower-res jpgs may eventually be used for downloadable copies. I may try to go ahead and see if I can get some sort of Jpegs put on a public server that I have access to, then just slop together a web page with listings of the titles with links. Forgo any sort of fancy graphical discovery interface for now. Thanks for bringing this up, as it reminds me that doing something can't really wait. I don't want others to duplicate our efforts. --Mark +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Mark A. Greetings, I have been sorting through our map collection and found a number of the 1940s maps from the OSS (Office of Strategic Services) and GSGS (Geographical Section, General Staff). There are a few small city plans of small towns, topo maps, administrative maps, population, and economic geography maps. Some libraries have cataloged their print copies, but I wondered whether they were available online. The Hathi Trust links that I found didn't work. I am surprised that I haven't been able to find evidence that anyone has scanned these maps. Am I missing something?
