On Thursday, August 18, 2016, at the closing session of the 82^nd IFLA World Library and Information Congress in Columbus, Ohio, Dorothy McGarry was awarded the IFLA Scroll of Appreciation. It reads:

 

               “For her distinguished service to IFLA and global librarianship, especially through an outstanding commitment to advancing cataloguing, classification and indexing standards and practices.”
