Hi Michael,

My colleague Mary Aagard and I did a survey on this topic in June 2015 and the results were published in May in Collection Management. I don't know if the information is too dated for you, but we tried to do a comprehensive survey. The citation is:

Folkner C.A., and Aagard M.C. 2016. "The Influence of the Online Availability of USGS Topographic Maps on Weeding Decisions in Academic Libraries". Collection Management. 41, no. 2: 66-81. http://dx.doi.org/10.1080/01462679.2016.1159162

Not sure if this will help answer you question or not --

Regards,
Cheri

Subject: USGS Topo map survey

Greetings,

I have seen a lot of offers of USGS topo sets on Maps-L for several years.  I was wondering if you would answer this quick question.

My library is

1)       Keeping all our print USGS topo maps.  (perhaps storing all or some off-site)

2)      Keeping only the print maps for the states (regions) that mainly interest my library's community.

3)      Withdrawing our print USGS topo map collection.

You can reply directly to me or respond to the list.
I will post the results.

Thanks.

Michael
