A ‘UNESCO Memory of the world’ exhibition currently on at the Canberra Museum and Gallery (12 Nov 2016—19 Mar 2017) features maps from the Australian Agricultural Company, Burley Griffin maps and panoramas, and an animated screen projection on Googleearth showing Cook’s track day by day (a digital calendar clicks over the days). It’s fascinating to watch the fast progression some days, slow on others, and the length of time he spent in each port.

This exhibition is an opportunity to learn about the long history Canberra shares with the UNESCO Memory of the World Programme for safeguarding documentary heritage.
