CALL FOR PAPERS

SUBMISSIONS CLOSE – FRIDAY 24 MARCH 2017

This year’s conference will be a 2-day event with limited-capacity workshops on Monday 22 May:

-      a morning workshop involving GIS, and maps in social media, held in a lab at the University of Melbourne, followed by

-      an afternoon practical guide on caring for maps with Preservation staff at the State Library of Victoria.

Tuesday 23 May will be devoted to presentations/papers, in the Victoria Room at the Queen Victoria Women’s Centre, 210 Lonsdale St, adjacent to the State Library.

Submissions are now invited on any topic in: cartography; the creation or use of maps; map curatorship, conservation and preservation; history of cartography or exploration; geovisualisation and GIScience; or related disciplines.

Full presentations are typically 20-25 minutes in length with 5-10 minutes for question time.

We also encourage submissions for a ‘lightning presentation’ session of strictly 5 minutes per person, and which may involve Powerpoint or a poster, or neither.

PRESENTATION GUIDELINES

The submission must contain: presentation title, brief abstract (ideally ca.150 words), author(s) name(s), affiliation(s) (if any), contact details (post, phone, fax, email), and a brief presenter biography (25 words or fewer).

The conference committee will evaluate all abstracts and make selections based on topic, content, and time available. All authors will be notified after the selection process. Applications close Friday 24 MARCH 2017.

All presenters must also register for the conference (each workshop, and the day of papers, can be booked individually, or as a combined package; prices will be very affordable).

However, presenters of a full paper will be able to attend the Tuesday session without charge.

Further conference details and registration information/prices will be on the ANZMapS website soon: www.anzmaps.org
