The agenda for the MARC Advisory Committee isn't quite as jammed packed as
Midwinter but there are a few items of interest.

On day 2, there's a discussion paper of particular interest. Discussion
paper 2017-DP 06 comes from the Canadian Committee on Metadata Exhange and
MAGIRT about adding coding to the 007 field positions for digital
cartographic materials. The discussion point is largely to add a code (t -
remote) to 007 position 1 (Specific materials designation), a code (x - not
applicable) to 007 position 4 (Physical medium), and a code (n - not
applicable) to 007 position 6 (Production/reproduction details).

On day 1, we have Proposal 2017-08 that would have a subfield ($0) for URIs
that identify a 'Record' or 'Authority' entity that describe a Thing and a
different subfield ($1) for URIs that directly identify a Thing itself.
This is to meet the needs for more semantic precision in the Resource
Description Framework.

Proposal 2017-09 would add field 758 as an identifier for a resource
related to the resource described in the bibliographic record. Resources
thus identified may include, but are not limited to, FRBR works,
expressions, manifestations, and items.

Proposal 2017-10 comes from OLAC and would broaden the definition of field
257 to catalogers to record places of publication/production for areas
other than countries.

Proposal 2017-11 seeks to add two fields to the bibliographic format to
include information on alternative access to the content of a resource.

On day two, there's Proposal 2017-12 would add subfields used primarily for
monographs to a field that has been traditionally used for serial to serial
relationships. It would add $u, $r, and $z to field 777 (Issued With Entry)
for horizontal, non-hierarchical relationship between to items.

There's a couple of other discussion papers as well.
