Hi Anne,

A long time ago I published a book (in french) about maps of Egypt (Cartographie de l'Egypte, Cairo, CEDEJ, 1989, not very easy to find but a copy is hold by the LOC.

Otherwise, 2 series covering the Nile Valley are availaible online via CartoMundi.

Scale 1:50 000, 172 sheets, 1896-1923 :

Scale 1:25 000, 412 sheets (but only 200 reproductions), 1923-1959

I hope that can be helpfull.

Best

Objet : egyptian cadastral survey maps

For a patron I am seeking a library which may hold the maps associated with the Cadastral Survey of Egypt 1892-1907. There is a book of this title which describes the methodologies used to compile the maps, but other than the British Library, I'm having difficulty identifying a library which holds the maps themselves. Maps created during the mid-late 19th century (no later than 1920) documenting the state of irrigation (and roads and railways) prior to or at the beginning of the British occupation, rather than maps produced at later dates, are of interest to the patron.

Thank you for any suggestions!!

Anne
